"Sermons and Reflections of the Word"
  • EPISODE181 - "Get The Word Out"
Luke 14:1, 7-14 14:1 On one occasion when Jesus was going to the house of a leader of the Pharisees to eat a meal on the sabbath, they were watching him closely. 14:7 When he noticed how the guests chose the places of honor, he told them a parable. 14:8 "When you are invited by someone to a wedding banquet, do not sit down at the place of honor, in case someone more distinguished than you has been invited by your host; 14:9 and the host who invited both of you may come and say to you, 'Give this person your place,' and then in disgrace you would start to take the lowest place. 14:10 But when you are invited, go and sit down at the lowest place, so that when your host comes, he may say to you, 'Friend, move up higher'; then you will be honored in the presence of all who sit at the table with you. 14:11 For all who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted." 14:12 He said also to the one who had invited him, "When you give a luncheon or a dinner, do not invite your friends or your brothers or your relatives or rich neighbors, in case they may invite you in return, and you would be repaid. 14:13 But when you give a banquet, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, and the blind. 14:14 And you will be blessed, because they cannot repay you, for you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous."

How?

If you are ready to come to the cross for the help you need, there are two steps you need to take now. The steps are called repent and believe.

As Jesus said: “Repent and believe the good news!”

What do these two steps mean?

Repent: This is another old-fashioned word, like the word ‘sin’. It simply means ‘change your mind.’ Picture it like this: you have taken a wrong turn and you are driving further and further away from where you want to go. You need to stop, turn around completely, and start travelling in the right direction. This will mean taking time to examine how you live.

You will need to ask God’s forgiveness for all that is wrong in your life - and ask him to save you and set you free. Repentance means that you turn away from your sin to God. If you change your position, then Jesus will change your situation.

Believe: Faith is not something that you have that others do not have. Faith is action and decision. The Bible makes that clear. “This is the work of God, that you believe in Him Whom He sent”- namely Jesus. Faith is an act, not a feeling. You decide to believe. Every person alone for himself or herself can pull that faith rip cord. If you do that now, the Lord will not delay by investigating your suitability, your worthiness, or your past. No matter who or where
you are, in the nick of time as you repent and believe, the parachute opens - with a bang, and you are safe - for real.
Jesus has never once failed, and will not fail you either. Here and now the rip cord is in your hands by the promise of God. The Bible is clear about it:

Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” One believing call, in simple language which you would use in calling upon a friend for help, addressed to Jesus Christ for forgiveness and salvation, is the way the parachute of salvation opens. God himself will intervene for you. He promised it. Pull the rip cord quickly, wherever you are.

(From Minus to plus by Reinhard Bonnke)

Dear Heavenly Father,
I come with all my sins, heartaches and addictions. I turn away from evil and turn to you, Lord Jesus. I put my faith in you alone. You are the Son of the Living God. I believe with my heart what I now confess with my mouth: You are my Saviour, my Lord and my God. Thank you for having accepted me as your child. I open myself to your Holy Spirit and will follow you all the days of my life. I believe you and receive you. I ask in the name of Jesus. Amen!

If you’ve prayed this prayer congratulations you are now a child of God, don’t keep it to yourself
